How does God want us to give?
In his 2nd letter to the Corinthians (9:7) St. Paul suggests:
“The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind , not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.”
Automatic Withdraws
This is a convenient, safe, secure process for automatic withdrawal from your bank on the 15th of each month. The consistency of this method of giving is very helpful for the budget planning process in the parish. Please complete this form and submit to the office or email finance@stellamarishalifax.com.
Be sure to include a void cheque.
Canada Helps
You can also support Stella Maris through Canada Helps, making giving simple and convenient. There’s no need to keep track of paper receipts or remember how you donated, everything is stored in one place. You can easily monitor your donations and access instant tax receipts at any time, all for free through your account. With multiple ways to give, Canada Helps lets you support your favourite charities in the way that works best for you.
E-Transfer
Just as you might send money through your online banking to a friend or family member, you can also support the parish by e-Transfer. Unlike typical e-Transfers, no password is required, simply use giving@stellamarishalifax.com as the recipient, and the funds will be deposited automatically.
If you would like a tax receipt, please include your name and address in the message field of your e-Transfer.
Envelopes
We keep track of your donations and provide a tax receipt at the end of the year. You can request to receive envelopes at finance@stellamarishalifax.com You may also consider signing up for Automatic Giving instead.
Tap to Give - Credit/Debit
You can find our tap-to-give option in the church foyer. Simply tap your credit or debit card to select your desired donation amount.
If you would like a tax receipt, please scan the QR code on the machine or visit this link to complete the form.

For donations made using your phone, please note that the last four digits will correspond to the card number shown in your digital wallet app, not the number on your physical card.
Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are a powerful way to multiply the impact of your donation. In some cases, an organization, or an individual donor may choose to match contributions made to the parish. After you make a gift, your donation may be included in a broader matching fundraising initiative, often doubling or even increasing the total contribution further. Stocks, Legacy Giving, and More
You can also support the parish through gifts of stocks or mutual funds, or by including the parish in your will as part of your legacy giving. To learn more about these options, please email finance@stellamarishalifax.com.
